POST 137 COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS BASKET PROGRAM

We had another successful Christmas Basket Program this year. Without all of the hard work and dedication, food and money donations from our Legion Family Members, the Christmas Basket Program would not be possible.

Thank you to all our volunteers who put on the breakfasts, dinners, our bingo volunteers/players, poker run, 50/50, our Red Neck Follies Girls, Legionnaires, Auxiliary, S.A.L., Rod & Pole, 40/ 8, Color Guard, Legion Riders, Motley Crew, and Byron’s Mexican feast. We exceeded our goals and were able to provide 83 families with food and presents for 112 adults and 154 children. With an additional 51 children receiving presents only.

Thank you to all in our Legion Family who volunteered their time and/or vehicle to help load, haul, unload, sort food, wrap presents or make phone calls. You helped to make 2007 a banner year.

Thank you to our members and guests who helped to wrap, sort and tag presents. Thank you to Carolyn Holland for co-chairing the Christmas Basket Program for three years.

A special thank you to Beverly Meares, who as a guest has been indispensable to me for the last three years. Not only did she help to over see the delivery of the baskets in 2005 and 2006, she stood in for me to oversee the delivery of the baskets in 2007. Thank you Beverly and welcome to Post 137 as a new Auxiliary member.
