Commander Emory Terral Austin is a Florida native, born in 1949 at Jacksonville, Fl. Raised on the Westside, he was educated in the Duval County School System and graduated from Nathan Bedford Forrest High School, Class of 1967. Emory joined the United States Air Force in September of that same year beginning with basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. He was trained and began his military career as a Supply System Specialist (Data Processing) with assignments at Travis AFB, Ca. and Torrejon Air Base, Madrid, Spain. The Commander was honorably discharged after four years of service in 1971, being awarded medals for National Defense, Air Force Good Conduct, as well as Unit Commendations for 60 Supply Calif. and 401 Madrid Spain.

Emory soon returned to civilian life, starting a family and his career with Anheuser Busch. His career with AB lasted 28 years and 4 months and he was finally able to retire in 2007. He is the proud father of one grown daughter, Shawnee Reese, who is a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Post 137. In addition, he is a proud grandfather with one granddaughter, Cheyenne Reese age 10.

Affiliations include: America Legion membership of 29 years, memberships as a Master Mason, Scottish Rite, Morocco Temple of the Shrine, Life-time member of the West Jax Shrine Club and Past President of both the Club and Ballyhoo Buggy’s Parade Unit (1989). ET’s (his nickname) interest are boating, fishing and spending time with his granddaughter. Commander Austin’s goals are to make Post 137 a “Family Post” not just another lounge or club, to increase Post 137’s membership, increase participation by the members and make them just as proud as he is, to be a member of the “Most Outstanding Post” in the state of Florida.
